A full moon was shining over Boston last night, and Matt and I went to see our final show of The Killers Day and Age tour; a bit bittersweet but I'm glad that the band is winding down with a few months to go... they've been on the road promoting this album for over a year now and they absolutely deserve the break to re-energize and create.
Perspective is everything, and everything is relative... I look for the food, I mean the good (!) in everything and the glass is almost always half full in my eyes. Not to say that some days aren't harder than others, but simply remembering the luxury of life here in the U.S. compared to a good portion of the world reminds me to suck it up and be thankful, because it's a good day, Sunshine.

The Killers - The Victims
1. The Killers: my absolute most-favorite band. More than a passing phase, I'm a self confessed, self professed, lover and advocate... an ultimate fan. This obsession was born and then nurtured, and more than one good thing has come from this love affair. More on that in the future.
2. The Victims. Confession: I'm in my 30s and I belong to a fan club.
3.To understand and know me, know that I love Brandon, Mark, Dave and Ronnie. Sometimes it's Brandon, Ronnie, Dave, and then Mark. Sometimes its Dave, Brandon... you get my point!.
4. Killer Experiences:
MGM Grand Foxwoods Casino, CT: July 31, 2008
Aggainis Arena, Boston, MA, January 26, 2009
Mohegan Sun Casino, Uncasville, CT, May 9, 2009
Royal Albert Hall, London, UK, July 5, 2009
TD Banknorth Garden, Boston, MA, September 4, 2009
5. Youtube videos (of the Killers) are not over-rated. In fact, watch them and you will love them.
6. I will continue to write about my love for the Killers on this blog (fair warning). Be gentle; )
Old Vinyl on a New-To-Us Turntable
Standing in the kitchen, listening to some George Harrison on the refurbished turntable, I told Matt that I was pleasantly more than satisfied with our listening experience. Don't get me wrong, I've been looking forward to listening to the familiar pops and hisses for weeks now, Kevin Mendenhall convinced Deirdre's Dad that Matt and I would be a good home for the old boy. Kevin retrieved and refurbished it a bit, adding some felt pads, changing something else important (Matt, help me out here), and on a sweaty hot day we picked up our prize, enjoying a happy hour while Deirdre nursed a summer cold. Two weeks later the new speakers arrive, replacing the crappy old speakers that, oddly enough disppeared in the basement... probably to be dug up in some archeological dig that will take place down there 1,000 years from now. Anyway, today was the day and after the initial breaking in by playing Elton John's Tiny Dancer, calling Deirdre to bear witness to the virgin launching, I had that euphoric feeling as I realized that our listening experience has been enriched in way that, I believe, will become our family tradition (an extension of Matt's family tradition) and one that Owen and his sibling(?!?) will one day come to cherish.

How can you not celebrate each day when you have a boy this sweet?!?
For a number of reasons this spring, I've been mindful that each and every day is a gift to be treasured
. While the shit might be hitting the fan, so to speak, I know that I've got the sweetest boy and the sweetest husband, and life is full of rich, beautiful, rewarding experiences that eclipse the fast paced, impersonal, and rat-race lives that we lead. The purpose of this blog is to record snapshots of the beautiful, funny, ironic, tragic, silly, teaching and telling moments of our life. We invite you to read, reflect, share, smile, and maybe even laugh with us.
